French authorities will start stopping small boats in English Channel after British demands
France has agreed to begin intercepting small boats in the Channel, after an extended period of insistence from the UK.
The change in policy follows the Prime Minister sent a letter to the French leader asking him to back the initiative and saying there presently "lack any effective preventive measure" in the maritime passage.
French security forces have been authorized to stop the migrant vessels at sea, but exclusively prior to they've picked up their migrants, according to official confirmation.
French police have infrequently intervened to stop the heavily loaded boats leaving the coastline because it is viewed as excessively high a risk to both personnel and civilians.
"It is crucial that we implement these tactics this month... We have no effective prevention in the Channel."
Now, a French maritime police representative states officers will start intervening at sea, with the aim of safeguarding human life.

Now French officials will once more be permitted to intercept boats before they collect asylum-seeking individuals from the coastal areas of France's north coast, however it's not clear how the small boats will be stopped.
